Press Release!: Equal Marriage Vote – Thursday June 14th in Boston
Marriage Equality Coalition to Provide Bus from greater New Bedford
On June 14th the Massachusetts legislature, sitting in Constitutional Convention, will vote on the anti gay marriage constitutional amendment. Only 50 votes are needed to place this discriminatory amendment on the November 2008 ballot. Equal marriage supporters are working very hard across the state to prevent this anti gay marriage amendment from being placed on the ballot. Civil rights should not be decided by a popular vote. We are very close to succeeding in our efforts.
Marriage Equality Coalition of the SouthCoast (MEC) and Mass Equality, the statewide equal marriage organization, will be providing buses for anyone who would like to be present at the State House on June 14th for this historic vote.
Your support and presence at the State House on this day is critical to our success.
Buses will leave the Park and Ride lot on Mt. Pleasant St. in New Bedford at 9 AM on Thursday the 14th and will stop in Taunton for additional riders. The buses will return from Boston that evening. There is no charge.
To reserve a seat, please contact MEC at 508-536-5991 or email at MECMass@Juno.com by Monday, June 11th. Please leave your name and a contact telephone number or email address for confirmation.
